Marvellous Provesende
Belonging to the Provesende Douro Villas area, “Marvellous Kingdom” is how Miguel Torga described his native region of Trás-os-Montes in 1941. This house pays homage to both, proving to be an essential stop when visiting the region and the Alto Douro Wine Region.
Halfway between Sabrosa and Pinhão, this town rich in wine-growing culture offers a wealth of amenities. The courtyard flanked by schist makes it a unique place to (re)find the meaning of life. With a swimming pool and the chance to stroll by day and rest by night, a comfortable and memorable stay is a must. Discover what Miguel Torga and so many other artists immortalised in the writings they left us.
The 400 square metre outdoor area will allow you to have close contact with nature. The ground alternates between schist and grass and is made up of water mirrors and a pleasant garden with cypress trees and local vegetation (e.g. santolina, lavender and rosemary).
The water mirrors are ideal for bathing in summer, when temperatures easily reach 40°C! There is also a century-old water well that used to serve part of the village, which has been restored and is accessible via a schist staircase.
With everything on offer in the quiet wine-growing village of Provesende, in the municipality of Sabrosa, it’s only a matter of time before you fall in love. It shares outdoor space with Provesende Douro Villas and Douro Villas – Pateo D’Ouro.
